What is Eurometropolis? EUROMETROPOLE - EUROMETROPOOL An EGTC... to erase borders.

Objectives of the EGTC Realising cross-border consistency throughout the entire territory Ensuring consultation, dialogue and political debate Encouraging en planning cross border projects Facilitating daily life of the inhabitants EUROMETROPOLE - EUROMETROPOOL

To build Europe from the bottom up by removing borders between countries and regions The borders between BE and FR gradually disappeared, but in their daily lives, citizens still encounter obstacles!  Bus connections stop at the border  A call on a mobile phone between Mouscron and Roubaix costs as much as a call between Paris and Brussels  Hardly any information about cultural activities organised just a few kilometers away on the other side of the border  Students who live in Kortrijk often study in Ghent, Leuven, Brussels or Antwerp, but they rarely go to Lille EUROMETROPOLE - EUROMETROPOOL

To create a real cross-border metropolis on a European and international scale Metropolises: engines of social and economic development Charles Gachelin: 10 conditions for metropolisation : 1. Reach treshold levels (number of inhabitants, hotels,...) 2. Quality– excellence 3. New urban image 4. Accessibility 5. New town and country planning 6.
