California State Standard: Written and Oral English Language Conventions. 1.1 Understand and be able to use complete and correct declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences in writing and speaking. 1.6 Use commas in dates, locations, and addresses and for items in a series.

Language Standard L.3.2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.

Students solve problems involving fractions, ratios, proportions, and percentages:  Number Sense 1.2* Interpret and use ratios in different contexts (e.g., batting averages, miles per hour) to show the relative sizes of two quantities, using appropriate notations (a/b, a to b, a:b).
