What is God wants 3 things at every school: Community Outreach Discipleship Change the School! Young Life ministry is built by: Prayer Relationships
Prayer: John 15:7-8 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples.” Relationships: I Thessalonians 2:8 “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” -Young Life is NOT a program. It is a network of caring relationships.
What’s the mission? Young Life’s Mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Our focus is on building relationships with unchurched and disinterested international students in Kigali. Young Life acts as an arm of the church reaching out for kids and drawing them to Christ and then into lifelong Christian fellowship.
We passionately desire that every kid has an opportunity to know the true character of Jesus Christ and the real possibility of a relationship with Him.
Christ: John 15:5 Leadership Team: John 13:14-15 Building Relationships: John 1:14 ‘Campaigners’: II Tim 2:2 ‘Club’ John 4:35 Prayer - God’s Word - Commitment - Obedience
Club is a weekly meeting where songs are sung, games are played, and a Young Life leader has the opportunity to share the basic truths of God and Jesus to adolescents in ways that they can understand. “You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest.” John 4:35
Campaigners is a weekly meeting where any kid can come ask questions about God and life. Leaders take this time to teach kids truths from the Bible and how to grow in a relationship with God “You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” 2 Timothy 2:2
Contact with kids. Every week, Young Life leaders spend endless hours being with kids, whether it is attending sporting events, coaching, teaching or simply hanging out. By being a part of their world, leaders earn the right to share the good news of God’s love to kids. “So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14
“And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” John 13:14-15 Leadership Team is the hands on adults who invest hours upon hours building relationships with kids, helping to plan outreach events, and leading campaigners.
Committee is what Young Life calls its local organizing body. It is the group that supports Young Life. Along with being a lot of fun, the committee’s roles of prayer support, networking, and personal care of the leaders are crucial to the ministry’s health. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Camping is a trademark of the Young Life ministry. Kids often will say that they have the best week of their lives enjoying relationships, sports, activities, and learning about a relationship with God. *We are hoping for some camping opportunities in the future.
