Questions to be Answered by Applicants for Innovation Partnerships Grants 2 Questionnaires  Innovation Fair Questionnaire - assessing the technology  Innovation Partnership Questionnaire - application of this technology; business model of technology commercialization  Today, the Innovation Partnership questionnaire will be used to evaluate a technology, which became the basis for a real successful company  This exercise will help you to understandwhy certainquestions are included into the Questionnaire and how to answer these questionsaboutyour technologies and technology development projects  Also discussed will be: - Pre-selection support to grant applicants, - How the Questionnaire completed by a grant applicant will be reviewed and scored, - Best practice in project selection procedures, - Post-selection de-briefing for unsuccessful applicants. 2 Do not translate: Questions to be answered by applicants

Purpose of the Questionnaire sections (1) A. Description of the Proposed Technology Development Project A brief description of the project, objectives, and and expected results B. How is the proposed work innovative? Are novel concepts, approaches, methodologies, or technologies used? Are the aims original and innovative? Does the project challenge existing practices, or reduce critical barriers to progress in the field? Are there any analogs? C. Related work What is known about investigations performed in the same field at present? How does your work compare to that of the leaders? Are you in any contact with universally recognized leaders in this field? Do you plan any collaboration with outside sources of expertise? 3 Do not translate: Purpose of Questionnaire (1)

Expected commercial and non-commercial benefits - What are the expected applications of your technology? - What will be benefits to society, or the nation’s economy? - Who might be customers for your proposed product or service? - Do you plan to license your technology to a company (in-country or foreign)? - Do you plan to create a new business around this technology? - Do you have a business plan? E. Intellectual Property (IP) and financial rights and obligations What are the rights to the development, and who owns the rights? How much money will be necessary to bring your new technology all the way to industrial use? How do you plan to access the additional funding needed? The technology which was evaluated Ultrasonic Impact Technology (UIT) was first developed in the early 1970s for the submarine manufacturing industry and used to strengthen the hulls of Soviet Navy nuclear submarines. The technology improves material performance, removes inconsistencies in metals, and increases the life of metal structures and components.
