PowerPoint Presentation Design Style Guide Making your presentation look it’s best Commtouch Style Guide © 2001

Creating a Presentation Creating a consistent and compelling customer presentation is essential This presentation template is designed to make it easy to create new presentations. The first few slides in the presentation contain guidelines instructions. Also included is a graphic library for you can use in your presentations. Commtouch Style Guide © 2001

Fonts in a Presentation For consistency, always use Verdana Bold as your title font, Arial as your body font, and Arial Narrow as your font for tables and charts. This will ensure that your presentation displays correctly even if you transfer it to another computer. Most body text can be as small as in 16pt. type, and as large as 24pt. Titles should never vary from 26pt type. For emphasis you may bold elements or change its color. Do not bold an excessive number of elements or use more than one color on each slide. As much as possible use the default settings in the presentation template. Commtouch Style Guide © 2001

Commtouch Style Guide © 2001 Bullet Lists When you are using a bulleted list of items: The main points are in 24 point Arial. This is an example of how the rulers have been set so that any large amounts of text will wrap properly. Here’s an example of a sub-point. It is in 20 point Arial Here is another example of how this field has been set up to wrap text properly as well. Commtouch Style Guide © 2001

Use of Colors in a Presentation Try and be consistent in the use of color in your presentation. Use strong colors and limit the pallet to a few colors. These are the designated colors to use as fills, and for emphasis: It is recommended that you use gradient fills in tables and charts: The following colors are use only to de-emphasize elements: Fill colors Gradient Fills De-emphasizing Colors Commtouch Style Guide © 2001

Commtouch Style Guide © 2001 Use of Graphics Don’t use clipart—clipart comes from a number of different sources and as such makes your presentation look less cohesive. Use graphics sparingly—make them have maximum impact by using them to directly illustrate the point you are trying to make. Every page doesn’t have to have a graphic. Give graphics room to breathe—Do not place graphics too close to the text on your page. Either reduce the amount of text on the page, reduce the size of your images or eliminate graphics use. Use the Shift Key—to scale graphics. This will ensure the graphic scales proportionally and will not be distorted Original Graphic Scaled with Shift key Scaled without Shift key Commtouch Style Guide © 2001
