What is graphic design? The art or skill of combining text and images in advertising, magazines, books or anything in print/ Digital

Graphic design has been around us for quite some time now. We see it in our homes, on our computers, on the stuff we carry; in fact it’s omnipresent. Where ever we go we are sure to get a glimpse of it everywhere. Despite its massive prevalence over time, most of us need to understand what the true essence of graphic design is. What triggers creativity, what provokes art and what inspires graphic designers to make designs that are self- expressive and awe-inspiring.

Graphic design beholds a world in itself; a world that is so beautiful and incredible that even a piece of it beautifies our world.

Designers impart a piece of them into every design they make thus it contains a reflection of their imagination, creativity and overall personality. Every design reflects a certain phenomenon, a perception, a persona and a belief. When words are creatively put together and beautifully designed, they exhibit much more than their meaning: that is what we call “Typography”.

Usually, people have differing opinions over what they like and why they like it. Because of this, it’s hard to say definitively what the difference is between good and bad graphic design. Judging the quality of Graphic Design is always pretty subjective.

The first element you will need to consider as you are looking at Graphic design is the audience a piece is speaking to. Look at the piece and do your best to put yourself in the shoes of the audience it is attempting to capture. Does the piece employ imagery, colors and words that appeal to the target audience? Does the message make sense? Is it clear? If you aren’t in the target audience, pretend you are. Does it motivate you? Target Audience
