Government regulations – Tier 4a, for example Economic growth – the impact of growth in China and India and fast-emerging middle class, whose demands for food are driving the markets Food security issues – eColi prevention, for example World population – The world population is 6.8B as of 2010; it is anticipated to be 7.6B in 2020; 8.2B 2040; 8.8B 2050 Demand for alternative energy – ethanol, for example Decline in available land – As the world population grows, producers have to meet those demands on less land. How are they going to do that? Now, these issues are largely out of the control of producers and Case IH. But of the things we can control – people, products, and technology – Case IH is best poised to help producers be ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of a changing world. 1

GLOBAL AGRICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT World demand for cereals, 1965 to 2030 To meet the growing demand for food, our customers around the world must find more ways to grow more commodities from the same resources – with less impact on the environment. Producers must continually upgrade their agricultural equipment, adopt new technologies and demand more from their agricultural partners to anticipate and help them “be ready”. World demand for agricultural equipment is forecast to rise 4.5 percent per year through 2014 to $123 billion. EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENT Net farm income in the EU is getting a boost from the world’s demand for cereal grains. Farmers will look at short term ways to invest in productive and efficient equipment to maximize profitability in tough environment and reduce taxation. (Case IH)  The price of wheat reached two year highs in 2010 after Russia, the world’s third largest wheat producer, shut-off exports to the world. Overall cereal production in the EU in 2010 was below 2009 but better than the 5 year average. (Case IH) 3
