A Definition of the Life of the Lord Jesus Christ

For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:20

Character of people who are living in the Kingdom of Heaven Not the Character of people living in the Kingdoms of Man 8 Statements stand in contrast to the Kingdoms of Man

Blessed are the poor in spirit Blessed (approved by God) are the (beggarly) poor in spirit (spiritual matters) for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven (both now and forevermore).

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Why do we mourn? We are to mourn over our sin Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. James 4:8-9

Why do we mourn? Ignacy Paderewski Young female student forgot music half way through her recital. She sat in tears over her failure. Paderewski went over to her, kissed her on the cheek and hugged her. He knew that comforting the young girl in her failure would motivate her to try again.

Why do we mourn? Ignacy Paderewski Because of his comfort, she wanted more than ever to please him and later in life became a brilliant concert pianist. When we blow it, and mourn for our sin and failure, the Lord brings us comfort and renewal. Repentance and mourning are evidences of our need of the power of the Lord to bring change into our lives by His Holy Spirit.

How are we comforted? Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10 God give Forgiveness God gives Comfort

Why do we mourn? Jesus mourned over the sins of others Matthew 16:14 Likened to Jeremiah Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Lamentations 1:12

Why do we mourn? Jesus mourned over the sins of others A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Isaiah 53:3

Blessed are those who mourn Blessed (approved by God) are those who mourn (for sin in their lives and the lives of those who share with them in the world) for they shall be comforted.
