physik multimedial The enhancement of physics lectures, especially for biology and medicine students, is the goal of the elearning platform physik multimedial. Lectures are not to be replaced but to be enriched by new didactical concepts and multimedia modules. Functionalities of the platform come in two groups: Course management services and physics modules. Self-study Units cover certain topics of physics and are dedicated for self-learning. They consist of text, exercises, simulations, and applications. Interactive Virtual Experiments (IBE) are series of pictures of real experiments (no simulations). They consist of animated photos series, instructions, and exercises. Didactics: How to teach and learn with multimedia? Four scenarios describe how to use the platform. Other chapters concern with the added value of the platform, pedagogical and psychological principles, evalua- tions, Gender Mainstreaming, and other physics software and groups using multimedia. Exercise- Module Exercises can be generated by lecturers or be picked from a pool. Every student gets different specifications of the exercise; simple calculations and multiple choice questions are controlled by the system. An immediate feedback is possible and course statistics are generated automatically. The Media Bank offers videos, pictures, html and pdf pages which mostly can be downloaded for offline usage. It contains a catalogue and a full- text search. Due to copyright restrictions, only lecturers are able to access the media bank and media are only to be used within their own classes. The modules The modules LiLi – Links to elearning material in physics LiLi consists of a database with URLs and meta data (> links) and a Harvest search engine (> links). It also serves as an OAI Data provider (pmm-specific and DC-enriched application profile). It is possible to search for documents, inform yourself about the documents (by meta data, comments and ratings) and insert comments, ratings and whole entries. We evaluate each new entry and there is a daily link check, only accessible and evaluated data is presented. ENGINe: LiLis Authoring Tools (under construction) The authoring tools are joined to LiLi and shall enhance the communication between authors and users of LiLi, the retrieval of objects in the internet and the creation of new learning objects. The tools are ordered in four groups, which describe to different stages of the provision of elearning material: information on the creation of material (which software und which tools exist and are well suited?), tools for the provision and the retrieval of existing learning units, stimuli for the long-term storage of objects, communication tools for users and authors. The course management Courses with lectures, exercises or seminars can be supported by the platform. Basic data like information on time and location of lectures as well as news on the course can be shared between students and lecturers. Course material and hyperlinks can be uploaded, managed and structured in weekly plans. Different communication tools are accessible: a forum for every course to structure questions and comments, the possibility for lecturers to to everyone and a chat server as a synchronous completion. These tools may be used to discuss lectures and help to improve the contact between students and lecturers.
