A COASTIE EVENT is an education program for children ages 5 – 12 which aims to teach Safe Boating practices utilizing a role-playing Lesson Plan, PowerPoint presentation and, of course, COASTIE THE SAFETY BOAT. At the end of the lesson, children are given a U.S.C.G.A. Certificate of Participation, a COASTIE Coloring Book and a COASTIE tattoo (temp). What is Coastie The Safety Boat? COASTIE is a mechanical robot “Boat” owned by 5NR, scheduled via Denny Nield. Coastie is operated by remote control and has lights, sirens, beacons, horns, winking eyes, and is capable of playing CD’s through it’s music system and interacting with the children via remote voice and listening systems using a pre-determined lesson plan covering 6 key lessons. Coastie is transported in his very own trailer. Auxiliarist must be certified to operate COASTIE, and an available “Vehicle Offer For Use” form must be signed by DIRAUX to Tow the unit.
