A changing landscape: The special case of the neighboring BLACK SEA countries The Black Sea, the largest anoxic, semi- enclosed basin in the world, and the only one in Europe, with unique hydro-physical and biochemical conditions The Black Sea region (the Black Sea basin takes a third part of the Europe territory; 17 countries are located on the Black Sea basin, with a total population about 160 millions) requires vigilance and effective environmental management.
