Geertz, Stokes, Mills, and Weber Sort into groups and discuss the following: 1) How does your theorist define the aims of scholarship? 2) What is compelling about that view? 3) What are the potential weaknesses of that view? 4) How would your author fill out the research triangle (claim, defense of claim, audience)?

What kind of scholar are you? Take 15 minutes to sketch some version of your research triangle (claim, audience, way of defending claim) Take 5 minutes to make a note – which of the traditions are you drawing on and why?
