School Adjustment Plans

What is a School Adjustment Plan? What is the purpose of the Adjustment Plan? Who is the Audience? Comparing the Adjustment Plan to the CEC Profiles

What is a School Adjustment Plan? One page Word document (generally – can be back to back or smaller font) An individual school wide plan – source of key information - context specific Reports on aspects which act as a barrier to a student’s access and participation in school life and states the reasonable adjustments to support access and participation in school life Reports on 6 Domains – curriculum, Communication, Mobility, Personal Care, Safety and Social Skills

A source of other useful information – LST discretion A scaffold to give order and to guide the collection of information Provides an organisational framework of succinct and relevant information to use in consultation with stakeholders A working, word document that can be updated with annotations (or electronically) as appropriate to teaching circumstances

What is the purpose? To state the key challenges within each relevant domain To state the specific, reasonable adjustments To give a concise (detailed) summary of both challenges and corresponding adjustments To provide the most useful information, contextualised to the particular student and the particular school To provide an ‘easy reference’ document for all school staff to ensure consistency in the implementation of each student’s adjustments

What are CEC Plans? 10 page document (minimum) An individual plan - a comprehensive collection of information which covers a wide range of aspects of schooling Are stored on-line and accessed via the internet by authorised staff (personal login) The website (on-line tool) is coordinated by an IT team at the CEC An obligation to update the web based CEC PP at least once a year

CEC Plans Purpose Provide comprehensive information in relation to a student’s personal plan Provide an account of adjustments (tendency to focus on generic adjustments) Accountability to the CEC Provide data to the CEC for analysis to ascertain a student’s overall level of need; supplementary, substantial or extensive Audience CEC Parents CSO
