2 IPS MeteoStar May 4, 1999 OZONE MONITOR PROBLEMS There Are A Number Of Things That Can Go Wrong With Dasibi 1008 Ozone Monitors, Other Than Outright Failures Most Problems Cause The Unit To Read Too Low Seldom Will Higher Than Expected Readings Occur

3 IPS MeteoStar May 4, 1999 ERRATIC OZONE MONITOR Usually Turning Off The Unit And Removing The PCB’s One At A Time And Pushing The IC’s Back Into Their Sockets, Then Replacing The PCB’s Cures This Problem. Carbon Build-up On The Rotometer Needle Valve Can Cause Pressure Surges. With A Wrench, Unscrew The Needle Valve And Clean With 600 Grit Sandpaper Or Paper Towel And Reinstall. If These Two Remedies Don’t Correct The Problem, Remove The Monitor And Send It To The Shop.

4 IPS MeteoStar May 4, 1999 LOW OZONE READINGS First, Try Cleaning The Absorption Tubes. Temperature And Pressure Compensation Can Cause A ppb Error If Not Properly Set. –Check The Pressure Reading With The Pump Off. The Pressure Is Read Out In Atmospheres (Barometer Reading In mm Hg/760 mm). In Austin, This Is Usually Contact Allen Ward For Details On How To Adjust This Setting. –The Temperature Circuit Should Be Checked Next, Using A Suitable DVM At The Left Side Of The Rear PCB. The Correct Reading For Temperature Calibration is Volts DC. Contact Allen Ward For Details On How To Adjust This. The Scrubber Can Cause Greatly Reduced Readings. Scrubbers Are Either Replaced Or Refilled Depending On The Model.

5 IPS MeteoStar May 4, 1999 OTHER MONITOR PROBLEMS The Following Problems Will Most Likely Need Shop Attention. –Leaking, Dirty, Or Worn Solenoid Valve. This Must Be Cleaned, Rebuilt Or Replaced, Or Perhaps Just Adjusted. This Can Sometimes Cause Erratic Operation. –Deteriorated O-Rings Cause Low Readings That Sometimes Will Temporarily Disappear When A Steady Stream Of Ozone Is Fed Into The Monitor. These Are Tricky To Replace And Must Be The Correct Size And Material. –Broken Windows Or Mirrors (Rare) Can Cause Low Or Zero Readings.
