TETRA Calls : Emergency issue at surface L1 (1 575,42 MHz) & L2 (1 227,60 MHz) SDS : GPS positioning TETRA BS DISPATCHER / FB Emergency call or Lose of verticality Accuracy ~ couple of meters SDS : last known GPS positioning Alarm & SDS received and automatic individual call established Dedicated IP Network User entered in a building with TETRA coverage Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 10

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 11 TETRA Calls : Emergency issue in underground facilities Infrastructure for Indoor localization not yet ready Alarm & SDS received and automatic individual call established SDS: positioning Emergency call or Lose of verticality Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 11

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 12 Example in LHC DISPATCHER / FB 2. When catching the ID from the beacon, the terminal forwards its location to the Dispatcher Workstation at the Fire Brigade 2 3 1 3. When incident : lose of verticality detected or emergency button pressed  emergency SDS sent to the Fire Brigade Dispatcher and individual call established 1. The Beacon located in an alcove sends its ID through a remote antenna to TETRA terminal Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 12

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 13 Surface radio coverage Lose of communication due to forest Base Station Repeater Lack of coverage due to relief Software: ProMan from AWE Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 13

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 14 Indoor radio coverage LHC experiments, LHC, SPS, PS, Booster, Linac tunnels… are covered with TETRA services but few minor issues are still to fix: in LHC6 and LHC8, in the middle of the arc section, short area where the signal strength is quite low and communications may be lost. SPS6 section of tunnel (from the middle of section SPS5-SPS6 to the middle of section SPS6-SPS7) is not yet covered by TETRA. These issues will be fixed during LS1 Some areas are not covered for now: The North area : tunnels TT81, TT82, TT83, TT84, TT85, TDC85 The transversal galleries in PS complex Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 14

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 15 Support / Maintenance Infrastructure: monitored 24/7 via the Computer Center over Spectrum no need for specific software tools 1st level of maintenance done by the First-Line team 2nd level of maintenance performed by CERN 3rd level of maintenance performed by our contractor 3T Terminals: Spare parts, repairing and configuration managed by IT-CS for all terminals through our contracts 1st batch provided by CERN For further needs, can be bought at CERN’s stores Online training and practical one (Firebrigade) on radio delivery Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 15

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 16 2013 Planning January: TETRA system operational for CSA & firemen! First semester: Deployment of Indoor Geolocalisation solution in one Arc section of the LHC and one Experiment Installation of mobiles in firemen’s vehicles Distribution of terminals (Experiments, piquets…) and trainings ESD distribution in all sites and new batteries for 4h of autonomy Microwave Backup link between the 2 main BS  coordination between ARCEP and OFCOM for the allocation of the frequency And…: Deployment of the Indoor Geolocalisation solution in LHC, SPS, PS, Booster, Linac.. tunnels, Experiments and critical areas (Computer Center…) Development of a new fully integrated software platform ILDA (Indoor Localisation and Dispatch Add-On) Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 16

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 17 ILDA The Integrated Localisation and Dispatch Add-On (ILDA) is a client-server system, with dedicated accounts and specific priviledges, which will integrate: The display of the localisation of TETRA radios (via GPS or Indoor Localisation System) on a fixed geographical area or for a fixed list of talk groups The Dispatching features which will enable to establish calls and send SDS messages to defined radios through a Phonebook An incident mode reserved to Firebrigade with wider features such as direct interaction with the TETRA radios displayed on the maps (calls, SDS sending, selection of multiple radios to create dynamic group of communication…), a tracking mode, search of a specific map (interconnection with GIS portal), transmit inhibition of a radio…, for which all actions will be logged An interconnection with CSAM centralize level 3 alarms : TETRA emergency alarms Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 17

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 18 QUESTIONS Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 18

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 19 Underground radio coverage / issues LHC8: Lose of communication in the middle of the section LHC6: Lose of communication in the middle of the section LHC8  du a un pb de connecteur ou port sur le splitter du US85 LHC6  du a un pb sur un connecteur/raccord au niveau de la porte R74 vers le LHC7 Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 19

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 20 Underground radio coverage / issues Experiments: the emergeny exits to access the PM lift, closed to the « trémie », are not covered yet SPS6: No TETRA coverage SPS6: il faut attendre la fin de la VHF pour raccorder le TETRA (sinon risque de dysfonctionnement GSM  return loss, combiner pas adapte au SPS6  low frequency only) Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 20

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 21 Underground radio coverage / issues PS: Installation de LF necessaire No coverage in the transversal galeries nor in the chicane of door 102 Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 21

Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 Indoor geo-localisation : available solutions STProtect: SYSOCO & SEPURA partnership Beacon using 868MHz frequency Receiver integrated into the STP8000 terminal Advantages: Solution already commercialised and even better by SEPURA (recognized player on TETRA market) durability of the solution Drawbacks: Receiver not yet integrated in the STP8X (ATEX)  on going The beacon may need to be adapted to enable a remote extended antenna and an external Power Supply Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013
