Steps of the Public Policy Analysis Define the problem Gather evidence Identify causes Evaluate a policy Develop solutions

Aim: How is Janie affected by racism in Their Eyes Were Watching God?

Define the problem: What effect does racism has on the changes that Janie goes through in the novel?

Gather the evidence Use evidence from the novel that illustrates the existence of racism in the text. Based on these examples, show how Janie’s experience with it has shaped her into the woman that she has become at the novel’s end.

Identify the causes WHY? Be sure to include your stance on why do you believe that she was a victim of racism. Give examples to support your viewpoint.

Public Policy Analyst Based on the research that you have gathered from the text with your partners, you will create your public policy that addresses the social problem of racism and the direct effects associated with it. In addition, you will come up with possible solutions to addressing this social problem. Use the following worksheet to assist you in developing your social problem.
