In the 18th century of London is living the Industrial Revolution. In this time, London was at the center of the British Empire (an economic and cultural European capital). This is the Age of Reason with Isaac Newton in England. LONDON, 1751

This document is a sky view of the East of London in 1751, a work by Samuel T. Bowles. We can see the river Thames. There are two bridges that connect the south to the north, and I suppose the first bridge is London Bridge, a very old bridge (built in the Middle Ages). There are also lots of towers. We can see at the right of the Thames St-Paul’s Cathedral with the big dome and it overhangs the eighteenth century´s in England. In the backgound, we can distinguish lots of hills. We can see a park on the left of the Thames, I think it´s the Lambeth Guardian Park. In the foreground, on the left, there is a very large avenue. There are lots of typical sailing ships and barks of the eighteenth century on the Thames (creation of the 74 canons, a good compromise for the Royal Navy [England] and the French Navy). LONDON, 1751

At the beginning of the eighteenth century, there was the triangular trade : this is the travel that exchanged slaves for arms in the West of the Africa, the slaves were transported in South America, central America and North America in exchange for essentially money (gold) and tropical food (tomatoes, patatas, coffee…) and in Europe the money was exchanged for arms.

In the Seven Years’ War, there were France, Spain, Austria, Sweden and Russia against their ennemies : England, Prussia and Portugal. There was equality in Europe but it’s an English victory in North America. Results : Great-Britain annexes Canada, Bengal and Florida (a former Spanish territory). And France transfers Louisiana to Spain. There had a very important navy because they take possession of Australia in 1770 by James Cook and they create a big penitenciary in this country. Gloucester at the 18th century.War of seven years. LONDON, 1764

London was dogged by crime like the criminal J.Sheppard. But the police was evolving because they created the scientific police. Creation of the ¨´Marine Police¨, there was the police who protected the port of London, thanks to the development of the Triangular Trade. But the police most popular and avanced in this century is the “Mossos d’Esquadra”, this police exist also in our century (root of the oficial website of the “Mossos”), creation in Equipment of the police in the 18th century. In the 17th century, there was the creation of the Scots Guards (English Guards). There were police with bearskins hat and they had (until now) to protect the English Queen and King. This police is very important in the 18th century because there was the Industrial Revolution. Scots Guards.
