Alphonse Capone (Al Capone)

Alphonse Capone was born in January 17, 1899 Alphonse Capone was born in January 17, 1899. his parents were Gabriele his father that was a barber and his mother was named Teresina. His parents were poor Italian immigrants that came to New York, Brooklyn U.S for a better life.

Al Capone had two brothers, Vincenzo and Raffaele Al Capone had two brothers, Vincenzo and Raffaele. There was nothing in Al Capons childhood or family life that could have predicted his rise to infamy as American's most notorious gangsters.

Al Capone was a good student threw out elementary, but fail behind and repeated the sixth grade. At this time Al Capone would play hooky and hang out at the Brooklyn docks.

One day Al Capone got hit by his teacher for insolence and Al Capone struck back. The principal gave Al Capone a beating and Al Capone never came back. About this time Al Capone and his family moved to a new neighborhood at Brooklyn. This is were he meat Johnny Torrio.

Torrio was running a gambling operation near the Capone’s house Torrio was running a gambling operation near the Capone’s house. Al Capone was running small errands for Torrio and they became close friends.

1909 Torrio moved to Chicago, but Torrio and Al Capone remained close friends. After Torrio moved Al Capone worked in a munitions factory and a paper cutter, but he did spent some times among the streets gangs in Brooklyn.

In 1917 Al Capone was introduced to a gangster Frankie Yale by Torrio In 1917 Al Capone was introduced to a gangster Frankie Yale by Torrio. Frankie employed Al Capone to work as a bartender at the Harvard Inn in Coney Island.

One night at that place Al Capone made an indecent remark to a woman at the bar. The woman’s brother did not like that and punched Al Capone, then he slashed Al Capone across the face with a knife leaving three scares, which inspired his nickname Scarface.

When Capone was 19 he married Mea Coughlin and had a child When Capone was 19 he married Mea Coughlin and had a child. As a father Capone moved to Baltimore and became a book keep for a construction company. In 1920 Capone’s father died and Torrio invited Capone to stay in Chicago Capone jumped at the opportunity.

As Capone went to Chicago he brought his street smarts which made Torrio recognize it and quickly promoted Capone to partner. Torrio was a low profile, but Capone was not a low profile. One time Al Capone got arrested for the first time for hitting a parked taxicab for drinking and driving, but soon got him out.

Soon Al Capone’s wife and son along with his mother, brothers, and sister moved to Chicago. Al Capone cleaned up his act and bought a house in the middle class south side. Torrio left the business and went to Italy, giving the business to Al Capone.

Torrio told Al Capone to keep a low profile, but Al Capone ignored Torrio. From this point on he lived a luxurious life. He moved his headquarters to a hotel and spending money lavishly.

Al Capone’s rival gangster Bugs Moran and his crew were a threat to him for years. Moran tried to kill Al Capone and his friend Jack McGrum. Al Capone had an idea to kill bugs and his crew. On Thursday 14 1929 at 10:30 AM Bugs Moran and his crew were lured into a garage to buy whiskey. Al Capone’s friend McGrum hired some of his men to dress into stolen police uniforms and wait for Moran and his crew.

When McGrum men thought they saw Bugs Moran they got in a stolen police car and drove over to the garage . Once they thought they were ready, they shot bugs’s crew, except Bugs was not killed he quickly saw the cop car and took off. For this Massacre also known as the ST. Valentine’s day massacre was blamed on Al Capone.

President Herbert Hoover ordered the Federal government to step up its efforts to get Al Capone on income tax evasion. On June 5 1931 the U.S government finally indicted Al Capone on 22 counts of income tax envision. Al Capone went to court, was found guilty and sent to prison for 11 years.

The first two years Capone was in federal prison in Atlanta The first two years Capone was in federal prison in Atlanta. There he was caught bribing gourds, but soon he got sent to Alcatraz an inland prison. At Alcatraz Capone was suffering from poor sickness and was released

in 1939 only serving six and a half years, but got sent to a hospital in Baltimore form his sickness. He spent 3 years in the hospital. He got out and spent his days in Miami with his wife. Capone died in January 25, 1947
