Warm-Up HAVE YOUR HOMEWORK OUT (LIFE IN 999/GRENDEL) Why are people greedy? Was there any time when you were greedy? Write about a time when you, someone you know, or a person in history was greedy. What happened? Did any good come out of it? Share your thoughts with a partner before you write. Write at least 5 sentences. Include a semicolon in 1 of your sentences.

CONNECTING TEXTS: Page 904 In the poem “Ulysses,” another archetypal epic hero is explored (Odysseus). Odysseus was a king of Ithaca. He fought in the Trojan war and created the Trojan horse that the Greeks used to take over the city of Troy. It took him 10 years to get back home. He saved his men from Cyclops and a host of other misfortunes. Read over Ulysses and fill out the worksheet. What do they have in common?
