 How were goods transported during the early 1800’s?  What was the quickest method of shipping from the United States?

 Students will become experts on a particular primary source.  Grade 7 students will examine the picture “The Marriage of the Waters”.  Grade 4 students will examine pictures of the tools used in creating the Erie Canal.  Grade 2 students will examine a New York State map.  Each group will complete an analysis worksheet about their primary source.

 Analyze the painting “The Marriage of the Waters”.  Using the Art Analysis Worksheet, answer the questions based upon what you see in the painting.
