Unit 12 Additional Evidence Oli

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Business card The colour of my business card matches the colour of my logo so it looks more professional. I have included contact details such as my phone number, address, my postal address and my fax number so that people can contact me if they need advice or help. Its important that they can contact me if they needed me as there is always an option that suits the person and this makes good customer service. My business card includes my name and job title so people know that I am the right person to contact as if you needed to fix your computer you would contact a engineer not a sales person. A business card shows that you care about your business, that you know what your doing and want to succeed and will help you in the way you want help.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Letterhead I have included the same colour and wave template for my letter so all of my products match and so look more professional. I have included my address and contact information so anyone can contact me to ask any questions they might have when they get the letter. I included my logo so the person receiving the letter will know it is from my business and will recognise the company. It’s important to send things on letter headed paper so that the person getting the letter knows who has sent it and recognises them as being a professional business.

1.1 I can describe what types of information are needed. Newsletter I have 9 articles in my newsletter and they are all about technology. The colour of my newsletter is purple because this stands out making people look at it and want to buy it. This colour scheme matches the colour scheme of my business card and letterhead showing people my business is a serious business and keeps everything looking professional. My logo is of a plane and this represents that we are always moving on in the world of technology. I have included information about my company which been running for about 5 years and along with this have included my logo on the front and back pages, as well as my contact information such as address, phone, fax and . I have done this to publicise the business and make people aware we are a serious, professional business.

1.2 I can describe how to change page design and layout to increase effectiveness of a publication. Publisher has a wide range of templates available and from these you can choose a style and colour scheme which you like. If you do this then all of your work can look the same. This is good because then people know that everything has been sent from the same company and they will know that the company is real. If a business had one design for their business card, another for their letter and another for their newsletter then the person receiving the information might think it has been sent from a different company and might not buy it as they might not trust it. I kept the colour scheme the same so the whole sway of products matched both the logo and eachother. This in turn makes my work look more professional.

2.3 Describe how copyright constraints affect use of own and others’ information. Copyright could affect my work because I need to make sure that anything I am using in my work is referenced as being either my own, or someone else’s. I would be breaking copyright law if I used something in my work which belonged to someone else then said it was mine. In my newsletter, I used articles from other websites and so referenced them in my research document. I also used a logo which I got from the vista print website so referenced this in my source and store table. I did this so that I could proove that I had followed copyright law.

2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images..PUB - to make e.g. business cards.PDF – stands for portable document format “pdf” is a multi platform file formats developed by adobe systems a pdf file captures document text, fonts images.JPEG/.JPG – jepg is an acronym for joint photographic experts group JPEG is a standard of compression for images.PNG - ping supports 24-bit RGB it has a transparency level just like gif you can create a image without a background colour.PSD – a psd or a Photoshop document is a file generated by adobe Photoshop you’ve seen images that have a surreal quality.TIFF – tagged image file format is a popular imaging file format since tiff is supported by most major operating systems

Publisher is a type of software we can use to create a letter head, business card, newsletter. If someone creates something using publisher then it has the file extension.pub. This means that anyone opening the file needs the software or they wont be able to open it. This can be avoided if they save the publisher file as a PDF as this file type means that you don’t need a specific bit of software to open the files. This can be useful because if your friend sends you something and you cant open that file you might buy the software for one time and one time only but if they are sent in by pdf you can open it on anything and you wont have to buy anything because you can look at it on mostly anything. This is similar with picture files where if an image file is created using Photoshop and someone doesn't have Photoshop then they can save the file as a range of images types these images types are PNG,JPEG and TIFF. There are a few key differences between these types of images these are if you need to print something then you might use good quality but this means the file might be large. Sometimes if you were putting a picture on a website, it needs to be smaller so you might compromise on the quality. In my work I saved my logo a PNG file because it has a transparent background and it is good quality 2.4 I can describe which file format to use for saving designs and images.
