3 Terri’s Message ……. Recently my BFF accompanied me on a trip to my hometown in Minnesota to attend my Mom’s 90 th birthday party. While my friend has been to the Twin Cities, she had never spent four days in a small farming town. It was fun to introduce her to my family and some of my lifelong friends. It was also fun to show her the house I grew up in, my school, my church, my first golf course, etc. She handled this trip down nostalgia lane very well; she even seemed to like it. The thing that impressed her the most was how curious, but welcoming and friendly, the people are. We Gaylord, Minnesota people may not be ultra-sophisticated, but we are nice. I was worried my friend would suffer from culture shock, but she maintained well. Last week-end I returned the favor and went with her to her 84 year old Mom’s home in San Francisco. You gotta know I experienced immediate culture shock. Everything I saw was beautiful and grand. Instead of a sixty something senior citizen, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I was a little nervous, but delighted. My friend’s Mom, family and friends were wonderful. We saw and did so many things a girl from a small town in Minnesota could never hope to see or do. Isn’t life wonderful!? Two girls from two completely different backgrounds and two diverse religious beliefs with a fourteen year age span meet and become fast friends. What is the catalyst: golf, love of fun, love of sports, theatre, travel, and most of all, the comfort of being friends. If you don’t have a friend to love and hang out with, find one. It is great! There are many wonderful people in our multi-faceted community who would love to be your BFF. Check it out! Thank you to all who attended Bingo, Western Night, and the Ladies Tea this past month. These events were a lot of fun! I would like to extend a big thank you to all the great volunteers who make these occasions possible. Thank you Jerry McLaughlin and Pat Haley for a great job with the Ladies Tea. Be sure to get your tickets for the Spring Show. The cast and crew are working hard to bring you a great show again this year. The bingo committee is making preparations for another one of our world famous Hot Dog Bingo nights on June 18 th. Tickets go on sale this week. Be sure to get yours while they last!!! The HOA is chairing this year’s 4 th of July celebration. Rumor has it they are planning great food, great fun and surprises for our holiday pleasure. Don’t miss out, get your tickets early. If anyone would like to volunteer to help at any of these events contact any Social Club or HOA board member. We would love to have you. Terri Goodman, President Terri Goodman, President Purpose of the Forest Gardens Social Club “The Club is established to create active interest, participation and friendship in the conduct of a social and recreational Club for the benefit, pleasure, and recreation of its members. …To cooperate and coordinate with Park Management in the implementation of such objectives. …Each resident of Forest Gardens Mobile Home Community is a member of the Social Club.” “The Leaves”: For corrections, additions or deletions, please contact the Editors: Donna at or Pat at or by at: or Forest Gardens Social Club 2015 Board of Directors President Terri Goodman st Vice President Barbara King nd Vice President Denise Burgess Secretary Pat Haley Treasurer Donna Chaput Social Club Board Meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the second Monday of every month, and after the HOA General Meeting in January, April, July and October.

Toni Rohnig (Questions and Answers): Many times, folks have questions about our great community, about the events we hold, or about the activities available at the clubhouse. But…who do you ask or where do you go to find the answer? We’d like to help if we can. Question: Does the Social Club ever send information electronically through the Internet or ? Answer: No, but we have been invited to participate with the Homeowners Association (HOA) for “The Leaves” and other Social Club news to be on a new Website being introduced by the HOA soon. Watch your newsletters or attend an HOA meeting for updates on the new Website. We will send out “The Leaves” through rockmail, but for those residents who use a computer, IPad or other computer devices, we are planning that you will also be able to access the Forest Gardens website for up-to-date Social Club event news and the monthly “Leaves” newsletter. Birthdays and Anniversaries -- “The Leaves” newsletter is published on a monthly basis and contains information about the Forest Garden Social Club’s upcoming events and other activities. The second page of “The Leaves” announces each month those residents who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
