Moses stays on the mountain 40 days and nights –God gives him the stone tablets of the law and commands –And all the details of the tabernacle and its worship –God glory was like a consuming fire –Giving the Israelites a greater respect for God’s revelation Israel had entered into a blood covenant with God –God decides to dwell among His people (John 1:14) –Similarly God dwells among Christians today Revelation of God’s Dwelling (24:12-18)

The Tabernacle Furnishings (25:10-41) Cubit was a standard form of measurement –But various nations have different established lengths –It was the distance from the elbow and the middle finger tip –From 17 to 21 inches, but probably near 18 inches Details are provided to us –Only to the extent that we need to understand the fundamental significance of the tabernacle in scripture –The Ark is described (25:10-22) Contains the Testimony –The Table is described (25:23-30) Containing the bread of Presence –The Lampshade is described (25:31-40)

The Tabernacle Structure (Chapter 26) Represents –Heaven where God dwells (Heb 4:14) –Work of Christ (John 2:19-21) –Individual believer (1 Cor 6:19) –Church (1 Tim 3:15) Consisted of a rigid support system –Curtains hung over the boards, eventually form a ceiling White (holy), blue (heavenly), purple (royal), crimson (blood) 45 feet long X 15 feet wide X 15 feet high –Boards, either solid or possibly frames –Bars, rods that the priests threaded through the boards –Veil, hung to separate rooms within the tabernacle
The tabernacle courtyard, 27:1-19 Importance –People entered here –Sacrifices made, choirs sang, believers praised, sins were forgiven, they prayed Altar of burnt offerings (27:1-8) –4.5 feet tall, inside the entrance to the court –Four horns, to which ritual blood was applied (29:12) –People clung to the altar (1 Ki 1:50-51, 2:28) –Received the offerings of Israel Courtyard –About half the size of a football field –Curtains formed its perimeter

The Builders of the Tabernacle (31:1-11) God chooses men to build the tabernacle –From the tribe of Judah –And the tribe of Dan Summarized what God required for His people to approach him –God appointed the men who would be responsible for interpreting the instructions of Moses –They were filled with spirit in order to make decisions consistent with God’s will
The Sign of the Sabbath (31:12-18) Importance of the Sabbath again emphasized –This was unique to Israel –Those who failed to observe it died –As long as God continue to work through Israel has his primary instrument (Rom 10:4, Christ is the end of the law) Conclusion of the record of what Moses received from God during the 40 days and nights started in 25:1 –Receives the two tablets of the Testimony
