JOB DESCRIPTION law enforcement units, which use military-style light weapons and specialized tactics in dangerous operations that fall outside of the capabilities of regular, uniformed police.
DUTIES OF POSITION The SWAT team handles high-risk warrant services, hostage situations, barricaded subjects, civil disturbances, and other high- risk situations. They also take care of Hostage/Crisis situations.
HOURS WORKED They don’t get called on that much so that means they work around 40 hours a week.
YEARLY RATE OF PAY SWAT team members, have an average base salary of $56,260 a year.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND NEEDED You do need an educational background in law enforcement or military police, a high school diploma and extensive training in weapons, defensive measures, emergency response, first aid, and other areas.
WHY I CHOSE CAREER? I chose it because I like to be part of a team. I chose this career because I want to protect the lives of people in hostile situations. I also want to know what its like to feel suspense.
