Davis 2005 MathScience Innovation Center Getting Started: Create work folder Double click icon “My Documents” Go to menu bar, FILE, then NEW, then FOLDER Give the folder a unique name by clicking on its name once and typing Place every picture, sound, and linked file in this folder along with your presentation

Davis 2005 MathScience Innovation Center Typing text Method One Click in text box and type TITLE Click in next text box and type SUBTITLE Existing template text will automatically be deleted Method Two Open Microsoft Word Document Highlight desired text COPY it Go back to PowerPoint by clicking Window on top menu bar Click in text box and PASTE

Davis 2005 MathScience Innovation Center Adding Pictures or Clip Art Insert a new slide with an autolayout that shows a picture Click in that space and browse your files for desired picture to add OR Note that pictures may be added to any slide at anytime by choosing INSERT then PICTURE from top menu bar

Davis 2005 MathScience Innovation Center Printing Show Choose FILE, PRINT On menu “print what” select one of these: – SLIDES – HANDOUTS (multiple slides per page, max. 6) –NOTES(shows slide at top, has blank space for notes) –OUTLINE ( prints only content without graphics) Choose color or black and white Choose size Click OK

Davis 2005 MathScience Innovation Center Overhead Transparencies Select light background Select dark, contrasting text Remember 24K rule If everything will not fit, separate into several different transparencies: “Less is more.” You can select individual slides to print Place transparency “rough side” down in printer; select transparency as paper type

Place these on slide “master” by clicking on VIEW, then MASTER, and then Slide Master OR Header/Footer Plan on 1 -2 minutes per slide: rehearse using SLIDE SHOW, then REHEARSE TIMINGS It’s a good idea to have a blank slide at beginning and end
