The A/B Schedule will provide the following benefits:  Decreases number of daily class changes  Allows for longer blocks of instructional time  Allows students to earn 7 credits a year  Allows for all students to receive mentoring and content-area tutoring during school day  Allows for better implementation of school- wide literacy and numeracy plans HAWK PRIDE HCHS 08-09

 School-wide literacy plan  Learning Strategies  First Quarter  Students will incorporate effective note-taking and summarization strategies in every content area.  Students will read a minimum of 13 books this year  8 books will be assigned through their English classes  5 books will be assigned for outside reading in their other classes  School-wide numeracy plan  This will be phased in during second semester and will help teachers and students incorporate numeracy concepts and practices across all content areas. HAWK PRIDE HCHS 08-09

 “Double-dipping” Freshmen in English and Math Classes Based in Academic Data to help students with a better academic transition to high school  New attendance procedures  Incidents 3 and 5 attendance interventions  AML teacher will contact parent at 3 absences  Counselor will contact parent at 5 absences  Administrator will contact parent at 8 absences  8 unexcused absences will result in a NC status  Students will have to complete a contract for credit recovery and attend assigned make up sessions by the end of the next quarter, or within 10 days of end of school in order to recover lost credits.
