The Book of Proverbs Chapter 2 Summary and Conclusion
The Third Reward and Conclusion, vs Vs. 20, Summary. Vs. 21, Substantiation. Vs. 22, Result.
Vs. 20, Result God’s laws are far more righteous and of a far higher standard of morality than those of any man.
Therefore, the “good” person is living consistently in God’s sanctification, through the filling of God the Holy Spirit, Eph 5:18, and the Word of God resident in their soul.
Balance of Residency: The Filling of God the Holy Spirit, plus, Maximum Bible Doctrine in your Soul ready for Application. B.R. = F.G.H.S. + M.B.D.S.R.4.A.
Vs. 21, Substantiation Isa 26:7, “The way of the righteous is smooth; O’ Upright One, make the path of the righteous level.”
The characteristics of the upright are: Hardworking, Prov 15:19; Capable, 2 Kings 10:3; Worshipful, Psa 33:1; Prosperous, Prov 14:11.
“Righteous live in the Land” = Physical blessings. “Blameless remain in it” = spiritual blessings.
“Blameless” - TAMIN, “complete, whole, perfect, etc.” = the Greek TELEO. Both mean spiritually mature.
“Remain” – YATHAR, “left behind.” As the apostate are killed or carried off in the 5 th Cycle of Discipline the spiritually mature ones will be protected.
The spiritually mature will receive in time guardianship and protection of their soul from the corruption of false doctrines and sin regardless of the circumstances around them.
Vs. 22, the Result, As the S.M. will be blessed, in contrast the apostate believer will not be and suffer Divine discipline.
“Wicked” - RASHA, the opposite of YASHAR – Righteous ones.
Characteristics of the wicked:
Characteristics of the wicked: 1. Do not seek God, Psa 10:4.
Characteristics of the wicked: 1. Do not seek God, Psa 10:4. 2. Forsake the Law or instruction of God, Psa 119:53.
Characteristics of the wicked: 1. Do not seek God, Psa 10:4. 2. Forsake the Law or instruction of God, Psa 119: Are cruel, Prov 12:10.
Characteristics of the wicked: 1. Do not seek God, Psa 10:4. 2. Forsake the Law or instruction of God, Psa 119: Are cruel, Prov 12: Gush evil from within them, Prov 15:28.
5. Crave evil with their whole person, Prov 21:10.
5. Crave evil with their whole person, Prov 21: Are rejected by the Lord and will be cut off and perish, Prov 2:22; 21:27.
5. Crave evil with their whole person, Prov 21: Are rejected by the Lord and will be cut off and perish, Prov 2:22; 21: Have no peace, Isa 48:22.
“Cut off” - KARATH, the apostate is destroyed, = 5 th Cycle of Divine Discp. for a nation, Lev 26:14-39, or 3 rd Cycle of Divine Discp. for the individual, 1 Cor 11:33.

“Treacherous”, BAGAD, acting in an unstable or unfaithful manner with reference to an existing established regulation, (a contractual, covenantal or marital commitment).
Psalm 78:56-57, “Yet they put to the test and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep His testimonies, but turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers; they turned aside like a treacherous bow.”
“Uprooted” - NASACH, “to pull or tear away, to tear down.”
“Uprooted” - NASACH, “to pull or tear away, to tear down.” Just as F.T. and F.D. tear the family of God in two, so will the perpetrators of the counterfeit be torn in two.
In contrast, when we have the truth of God’s Word resident in our soul from righteous right pastor-teachers we will be protected both physically and spiritually, vs. 21.
Prov 11:3, “The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.”
Combining the “if” with the “then” statements, we see:
1st Statement: Vs. 1-2, “My son, if you will receive my words, (discipline to take in God’s Word), and treasure my commandments within you (store and retain God’s Word in your heart/soul), 2 if you will make your ear attentive to wisdom (obey God’s EPIGNOSIS doctrine), and if you will incline your heart to understanding (change your direction and receive the principles of discretion and reason).”
Vs. 5-8, “Then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 Guarding the paths of justice, and He preserves the way of His godly ones.”
2nd Statement: Vs. 3, “For if you cry for discernment (pray that God gives you the right perception of truth), and lift your voice for understanding (give yourself to the reception of God’s Word as it is taught so that you apply it skillfully).”
Vs. 9-11, “Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good course. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; 11 discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you.”
3rd Statement: Vs. 4, “If you seek her as silver (real and tangible) and search for her as for hidden treasures (of great value).”
Vs , “Then you will walk in the way of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright will live in the land (Physical blessings) and the blameless will remain in it (spiritual blessings); 22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land (3rd Cycle of Discipline) and the treacherous will be uprooted from it (destroyed).”
False Pastor/Teachers and their false doctrines are two enemies that the truth of God’s Word will protect us from.
When we have His Word in our soul’s we will be blessed physically and spiritually.
But for the apostate with their falsehoods they will suffer God’s discipline to the maximum.
