Assessment to Date Assessment of pilot programs –Learning opportunities for youth –K – 12 research (students & teachers) –Undergraduate research experience Findings related to impact Formative findings, changes to program –Specificity of camp content, student motivation –Engaging high school students earlier, ongoing support for teachers –Recruitment of undergraduates, mentor training, exposure to science careers

Summer/Fall 2008Winter/Spring 2009 K – 12 Education o Pre- and post-group interviews with ASE participants o Pre- and post-surveys for Saturday Academy & CoaCH pilot students o Post-workshop surveys for CoaCH mentors o Interviews and coordination with pre-college educational partners with snowball sample o Development of participant & program tracking database o Brief follow-up interviews with ASE participants (2007 & 2008) o Interviews and coordination with pre- college educational partners with snowball sample Higher Education o Brief pre- and post-surveys for undergraduate researchers o Post-focus groups with undergraduate researchers (2 groups) o Interviews with researchers and mentors o Development of participant & program tracking database o Brief online follow-up survey for undergraduate researchers (2007 & 2008) o CMOP seminar series observation o Group interviews with CMOP graduate students Diversity Initiatives o Observation of community or national events o Development of participant & program tracking database o Interviews with partners and connections
