Asteroidal Occultation Priority Lists Brad Timerson

Where Did the Lists Come From and What Lists Do We Have? Scotty Degenhardt first brought up the idea of matching our occultation efforts with those asteroids for which inversion models existed as way to verify models after conversations with Alan Harris and Brian Warner at SAS The Minor Planet Bulletin lists Inversion Modeling Candidates for which another set of lightcurves from one more apparition would allow either an initial or a refined solution. For these events, occultation observations would serve to constrain the models obtained from lightcurve inversion, eliminating ambiguous solutions and fixing the size of asteroid. DAMIT (Database of Asteroid Models from Inversion Techniques) lists 211 asteroids for which inversion models exit. (as of Sept. 24, 2012) ISAM (Interactive Service for Asteroid Models) lists 107 asteroids for which it has interactive inversion models. (as of Sept. 24, 2012) A List was created using the asteroids listed on both sites with the last several lists from the MPB merged with them. A User File was created in Occult to produce predictions for these asteroids. A paper by Benoit Carry, Density of Asteroids (2012), lists 278 asteroids for which additional observations, including occultations, is desired to better define physical properties.
