 ‘aaba’ Rhyming scheme.  Four equal stanzas.  Themes of loss, isolation, loneliness and reflection.  A black and white contrast is created by the vision of the snow-covered field at night.  Connects to ‘Crossing the water’, ‘Mushrooms’ and ‘Stopping by woods on a snowy evening’.

 Repetition.  Urgent feeling.

 Reflection.  Time decisions.

 Description.  Purity.  Peaceful.  Memories.

 Reminders of the past.  Isolation.  Forgotten.  Negativity.

 Aggressive/possessive tone.  Claimed area.

 Negative imagery.  Sinister tone.

 Indicates to writers depression.  Writers feelings of isolation, loneliness and bleak thoughts of the world.

 Links to depression.  Isolation theme.  Is unaware of his depression.

 Repetition.  Emotions revealed.  “L” sound being prolonged emphasises the loneliness and isolation.

 It will be worse, before it gets better.  His depression.
