DIAGNOSIS OF MY CLIENT:OKONKWO Dr. Bolon Fadi

What is Psychology? Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Psychology is really a very new science, with most advances happening over the past 150 years.

Patient Data He won’t tell me his date of birth because he does not recall it. He is from this small village in nigeria called Umuofia. He has 3 wives and 8 children. He was a wrestler one that won the mightiest person in all of the 9 villages.

Family Problems Since early childhood, Okonkwo’s embarrassment about his lazy father, Unoka, has driven him to succeed. Okonkwo’s hard work and power in war have earned him a position of high status in his clan, and he attains wealth sufficient to support three wives and their children.

Unoka My Clients Father Okonkwo’s father, of whom Okonkwo has been embaressed since childhood. By the standards of the clan, Unoka was a coward. He never took a title in his life, he borrowed money from his clansmen, and he rarely repaid his debts. He never became a warrior because he feared the sight of blood. Moreover, he died of an abominable illness. Unoka appears to have been a talented musician and gentle. He dies 10 years before my client came to see me.

Tragic Flaw Okonkwo’s tragic flaw is that he is terrified of looking weak like his father. As a result, he behaves rashly, bringing a great deal of trouble and sorrow upon himself and his family. For example he kills his adopted son terrified that people in his clan will think weak of him.

Okonkwo I think that okonkwo is « hard on the outside and soft in the inside. » Meaning.. That he shows to other people that he is harsh and he has the power to kill, and is not scared of war etc.

Killing his adopted son. His other son converting into christianity. All these events and much more ended up to the death of my beloved Client.

Symptoms 1.He cant forget the past. 2.Relieving the past. 3.Depression before his death.

Conclusion He dies a lonely death because he lost everything along with the respect people had for him and lost the familial love when his child converted into a different religion and beause he used to beat his family up over stupid things.
