I. Social Justice

What is it? 1. Social Justice- The Church’s commitment and mandate to fight against social sin. Helps us give everyone their fair rights. I. Social Justice A.

What is it? 2. Church teaching on Social Justice is based on 4 main principles. I. Social Justice A.

4 Main Principles 1. Common good- everyone should have their basic needs met and reach fulfillment. Ex: All should have rights to health care. I. Social Justice B.

4 Main Principles 2. Responsibility of Political Authority- leaders should defend and promote the human rights of their society. Ex: Spiderman defends us I. Social Justice B.

4 Main Principles 3. Human dignity- all people are valuable because we’re created in God’s image. Ex: Rosa Parks stands up against “Jim Crow” laws. I. Social Justice B.

4 Main Principles 4. Human solidarity- we share a friendship or “brotherhood” with all other people. Ex: Traveling to El Salvador on a mission trip. I. Social Justice B.
