Define the term – “ Checks and Balances” and explain why the creators of our government thought it was important.

 The term “Checks and Balances” refers to our system of three equal branches of the government which allows each branch to change or stop certain actions of the other two branches.  “Checks and Balances” means that each of the three branches checks on tasks carried out by the other two and therefore there is a balance of power between the three.
