Christchurch Area Office and the Canterbury Skills and Employment Hub Launched in November 2012, the Canterbury Skills and Employment Hub (the Hub) seeks: To help employers access local sources of skills and labour. Where suitable or trainable New Zealanders cannot be found, to meet firms’ labour and skills needs through migrant labour. The Hub works towards these goals by front-end loading of the Labour Market Test for immigration purposes. This means that the labour market test takes place earlier, ideally before the employer has contacted possible migrant workers. 10
