Classifying Quadrilaterals
QUADRILATERALS.  A plane shape with four straight sides is called a quadrilateral.  We name quadrilaterals by looking at the properties of their sides.
What will we accomplish? We will review the naming of polygons. We will classify quadrilaterals by their characteristics.

Hey Everybody! It’s your old pal Big Bird!

We are here to learn quadrilaterals.

Rhombus! All four sides are equal and the opposite sides are parallel. Look!

Trapezoid! One pair of parallel sides! It’s like I’m trapped! What do I do? Wah!

Parallelogram! Two pairs of parallel sides! That’s roomy! I could really stretch my feet.

Rectangle! 6 x 8 baby, 4 right angles, 2 pairs of parallel sides. It’s heaven!

Square! All 90˚angles, equal sides.
