Motivation questionnaire

Students often disturb in lessons. What do you think about it. 60% - To talk to others is normal, I don‘t mind. 40% - Students who talk with others disturb me.

Disturbing students should… 66% - …learn and be quiet. 34% - …have more work in order not to disturb another students.

Some students think that study is not important for life. What do you think about it? 43% - Study makes it possible for us to become professionals and to work well in future. 28% - Study is the best way to get higher position in the society. 23% - Study is important because it helps us to understand many things. 5% - Study is not important. It‘s too much work. 1% - It isn‘t important to study but to do what you are asked to in lessons.

In lessons, a few students often make fun of the others. What do you think about it? 62% - They should stop doing it and be polite. 22% - It doesn‘t matter, some boys/girls are not so good (They deserve it) 16% - They should be punished.

Some teachers are strict, they only teach and rarely „play“ with students. What do you think about it? 60% - Sometimes I don‘t like it. I wish there were better lectures. 20% - It‘s wrong because they should teach but also play with us, too. 20% - It‘s alright, they should teach at first.

We often talk about motivation to learn. Do you know this term? 40% - It‘s only one of many factors of study success. 35% - It‘s the most important engine of our study. 18% - It‘s important, it helps us to understand theme if we study. 7% - I don‘t know what it means.

Motivation and you 76% - Motivation is a principle for success in studies and in life. 13% - Motivation is important in school. 11% - Motivation is not important, I can cope up with everything without it.

How important is the teacher‘s role in motivation for you? 33% - Teachers feel it is their duty to teach us... 29% - They are important because they teach us new and interesting things. 22% - They only think about when they can go home. They don‘t motivate me. 16% - They can only use marks to motivate us.

How important is the role of the family in motivation for you? 47% - Role of the family is as important as the role of teachers. 45% - Parents are important, the only motivation comes from family. 8% - My parents don´t care if I learn.

Is important to be well-educated so that you can succeed in life? 57% - Education can help one to be successful in life. Yet it depends on another factors. 28% - It is Important if a man is content with himself/herself and with his/her work, then he/she is successful. 11% - Education cohere with social status in society, well- educated person is more successful. 4% - A human being is successful only when he/she has got a lot of money, education doesn´t matter.

What position do you most often have in a group work in class? 82% - I cooperate with others in common resolution. 12% - I´m a chief of a group, I decide about everything myself. 6% - I prefer others to decide for me.

If you are good at school, how does another class-mate perceive you? 60% - He/she is simply clever. 20% - He/she is an idiot and swot. 20% - He/she is only lucky and always knows what the teacher asks.

If you face a dificult problem at school, how do you behave? 40% - I try to find some resolution. 26% - I search for help of students who know more than me. 18% - I´m impulsive, I do what I occures to me. 16% - I get stuck and I don´t know what to do.

If you have a meeting with friends, you… 32% - …come mostly together. 25% - …are the last to arrive. 22% - …are the first to come. 21% - … don´t care if you keep waiting for the others together.

What should we do for motivation in class improvement? 40% - …be an example, so thatwe can help children to can follow the example. 35% - Help children to understand the need of education. 25% - Open extra lessons for students who are not so good.

What can we do to prevent disturbing in lessons? 43% - Increase teachers authority. 30% - Cooperate more with students and their parents. 19% - Teacher must concentrate more on students behaviour. 8% - Repeatedly ask the leading student(s).

Is discipline important to study? 54% -Yes, we take the others in to consideration due to it. 36% - It depends on teachers how they watch students. 10% - It doesn‘t help.

How much free time do you have? 38% - About 2 – 3 hours a day. 34% - More than 3 hours a day. 14% - Most of the days I haven‘t got any. 14% - About 1 hour a day.

How do you spend your free time? 41% - Most of the time I follow my hobbies and sports. 29% - Most of the time I‘m with my friends. 20% - I spend most of my free time in front of the computer screen. 10% - I haven‘t got free time.

How do you spend your weekend? 51% - I‘m mostly with my friends (walks, clubs) 20% - I mostly don´t have a free weekend. 16% - I spend most of my weekends with my family. 13% - I´m mostly at home.

What is your parents´ opinion about your free time? 52% - They support me. 25% - They don´t care. 13% - They don´t agree with the way I spend it. 10% - They urge me to spend my free time meaningfully.

Are you happy with the way you spend your free time? 53% - Yes. 23% - I would like to have more free time. 16% - I would like to have more free time activities but I haven´t got conditions. 8% - I would like to have more free time activities but I´m not patient enough to change anything.

Drugs and alcohol

Alcohol is for me… 34% - Socially accepted drug that can have negative effects as other drugs, and should be considered a drug. 30% - Something I don´t need. 18% - Pleasant variation of weekdays. 18% - Something I can‘t imagine my life without.

Do your parents tolerate alcohol? 68% - They tolerate drinking at celebrations, etc. 14% - They don‘t care if I drink alcohol. 12% - They tolerate me drinking regularly. 6% - I drink secretly. They don‘t agree with that.

Marujuana is for me… 47% - … forerunner to the other drogs. 24% - … drug, the consequences of its use are exaggerated. 16% - …light drug, can‘t hurt. 13% - …drug, the consequences of its use are depreciated.

Legalization of marijuana… 39% - …is necessary to be limited (legalization for medical purposes). 28% - …is not possible – increase in number of addicts. 22% - …is possible if there is age restriction, such as in alcohol. 11% - … is necessary, without limitation, marijuana is a normal part of students´ life.

What is the best prevention of drugs? 49% - Prevention is unnecessary, depending on the will of individuals. 27% - The best prevention is a meaningfully spent leisure time. 19% - The best prevention is the patterns (both positive and negative). 5% - The best prevention is education in schools.

Computer and me.

How much time do you spend in front of the computer screen? 38% - Regularly 1 – 2 hours a day. 31% - Regularly 2 – 4 hours a day. 21% - I use it minimally. 10% - More than 4 hours a day.

How do you use your computer? 38% - … social networks (Facebook, Badoo) 26% - school work 22% - …communication through the Internet (Skype, ICQ) 14% - …computer games

What is your reaction when computer breaks down? 37% - I don‘t care. I can be some time without it. 28% - I‘m desperate. I can‘t communicate with my friends. 27% - I‘m desperate. I can‘t prepare for school. 8% - I don‘t care. I nearly don‘t use it.

The Internet friendship… 45% - …can not substitute a real friendship, I prefer to communicate with friends "live". 28% - I don‘t consider the people who I comunicate with being real friends. 23% - …is an appropriate addition to “real“ friends. 4% - …is for me the only real friendship, I haven‘t got other friends.

What is a major drawback of Internet communication? 42% - I miss the closeness of people, eye contact, gestures, etc. 34% - I think that people are not honest. 13% - Has no weaknesses. 11% - Limits the word- stock and distorts the language.

Bullying

Have you ever experienced bullying? 36% - Yes, I was bystander. 32% - No. 21% - Yes. I was a victim. 11% - Yes, I was the aggressor.

Bullying is… 60% - …a negative phenomenon in the group, it is necessary to fight it. 16% - …more fuzz, in fact it doesn´t happens often, I do not register it. 15% - …a natural thing, I disagree with it, but I just cannot take any action to prevent it. 8% - what a nice amusement and enrichment of free time.

How will you behave when you see bullying? 37% - I‘ll try to stop it and I will cooperate with my friends. 24% - I‘ll try to stop it myself. 20% - I‘ll tell my teacher. 19% - I can‘t do anything about it.

Victim of bullying… 50% - …can not defend him/herself, needs help of others, such as a teacher. 25% - …I do not care, everyone has to take care of him/herself. 16% - …can not defend him/herself, he needs my help. 9% - bullying deserves something always provokes.

Cyberbullying 40% - …may have worse consequences, is "less visible". 27% - …is as dangerous as direct bullying. 25% - …is not as dangerous as direct bullying. 9% - …is not dangerous, it doesn´t harm.

Behaviour at school

Behaviour of current students is… 67% - …diferrent - current students are brasher than before. 13% - …different - current students are more obedient than before. 11% - …the same as before, as in our parents' generation. 9% - …different - current students respect their own rights and responsibilities.

When you disturb in lesson what is usually the reason? 63% - I do not like the subject. 19% - I don‘t disturb. 13% - I don‘t like the teacher who teaches the subject. 5% - I want to draw attention to myself.

I have bad marks mostly because... 35% - …I do not learn, do not spend time on it. 33% - ….the specific subject is hard for me, I do not know how to do it. 19% - … a teacher picks on me. 13% - …I don‘t have suitable conditions for learning.

How do you rate a class team? 39% - In our class, there are groups which, if necessary, are able to cooperate. 39% - We have got a good class team, I wouldn‘t change it. 14% - In our class, there are groups that don‘t cooperate. 8% -Every stident cares about him/herself in our class.

How do you handle copying test? 41% - I don‘t usually use cribs. I don‘t care if the others use them. 26% - It is a matter of teachers who should catch him/her. 17% - I don‘t usually use cribs. The other shouldn‘t use them, too. 16% - Without these practices, I wouldn‘t graduate, they are a normal part of my studies.
