AGENDA What we will share about Title I at LGE. Welcome and Introductions All About Title I Six Types of Involvement Why you should Get Involved! How Title Funds are Allocated Parents Right to Know How LGE Communicates w/families Parent Input Meeting Breakout Sessions by class on Curriculum, Assessments and Communication

What is Title I? The United States Federal Government’s largest education assistance program for schools. Purpose? To help every child receive a high quality education and to achieve the high standards set by the State of Georgia.

Title I at LGE… Each school decides how Title I funds will be used in their school to improve education for all children. Data is reviewed to determine the greatest need in a school. School Leadership Team, School Council and Title I Wildcat Support Team(WST) determine how Title I funds will support those identified needs. School Council/WST Parents Community Members Educators Administrators

Title I at LGE... LGE is required to create a School-Wide Plan (SWP), with input from the Leadership Team, School Council and Leadership Team, outlining plans for the academic achievement of all students. Title I resources and requirements are included in the SWP. The SWP is continuously revised based on current data and the needs of LGE students. Schools are also required to plan how they will involve parents in the education of their children. Each school must write, with the help of parents, a school Parent Involvement Plan.

How Does Title I at LGE Support Families… The school’s Parent Involvement Plan describes how schools and families work together to help children succeed. Parents and schools come together and sign the Parent - School compact which is an agreement between the school and the parents about how they will work together to support the child’s learning. This is a “living document” which will be reviewed at PAWS Conferences and revised to meet individual student needs, if necessary.

How Does Title I at LGE Support Families Translate school information into families’ first language. Host activities to help families help children learn. Provide transportation, childcare, interpretation during meetings, and school activities. Title Funds can also be use to:

Keys to Successful Partnerships: Six Types of Involvement

GET INVOLVED! Families play an IMPORTANT role In their child’s Academic Success! What can YOU do to Support Learning at Home?

Help your child come to school ready to learn by making sure he/she… Is well rested and has a good breakfast OR gets to school in enough time to eat in the cafeteria Is On-time to school – school begins at 7:45am However, Learning begins once the bell rings at 7:20am and students go to class. Homework is completed and Agenda is checked daily

Show your child Education is Important by… Attending LGE’s Annual Title I meeting to learn more about Title I and your rights and responsibilities as a parent. Be a Part of the Wildcat Support Team. Give input regarding the revision of our School-wide Plan, Parent/School Compact, Parent Involvement Plan and Budget expenditures. Attend PAWS conferences in October and February. Join the LGE staff and other families for monthly PAWS (Parent Academic WorkShops) Nights and other Family activities.

Know Your Rights as Parents…  Request information about the qualifications of your child’s teacher.  ALL LGE Staff Members CERTIFIED and CLASSIFIED are HIGHLY QUALIFIED!  Be informed if your child is being taught for more than four consecutive weeks by a teacher not licensed in the area of instruction.  See progress reports for your child and the school.  Help decide if the school is meeting your child’s needs and offer input and suggestions for improvement at School Council Meetings or WST meetings.
