What is prenatal development ? Is the process by which a baby-to-be grows inside the mother A full-term pregnancy typically lasts about 280 days ( 40weeks ) The timeline of pregnancy can be divided into three trimesters, or three-month time periods.

Trimesters Third Trimester Trimester Pictures All three Trimesters First Trimester is the first three months at this early stage, the developing life which is called a Zygote Second Trimester is the fourth, fifth, and sixth months of pregnancy the fetus ids grows dramatically. At the end of this period, the fetus will weight 2pounds. Third Trimester Trimester Pictures

Miscarriage Is the spontaneous loss of the pregnancy after less than 20 weeks of fetal development. The Zygote, embryo, or fetus dies and is expelled from the mother’s body. 15 and 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage Miscarriage is increased by factors Such as: Age Previous miscarriage Family History of Miscarriage Certain diseases or infections Exposure to hazards during pregnancy, such as alcohol, drugs, smoking, heavy caffeine use, or certain chemicals.

Premature birth If labor can’t be stopped and the baby is born before the thirty-seventh week of pregnancy. About one out of every 10 babies is premature. Premature babies have less time to develop in the uterus, which increases their risk of health problems.

Ultrasound Imaging. Is a process that uses sound waves to create video and still images of the fetus inside the uterus The ultrasound image is often called a sonogram

Amniocentesis Is a prenatal test that involves removing a small amount of the amniotic fluid that surrounds the developing fetus. Amniocentesis is typically performed at 15 to 18 weeks of pregnancy, but is sometimes done as early as 11 weeks. It slightly increases the risk of miscarriage

Chorionic Villi Sampling Is a prenatal test that involves taking a sample of cells from the placenta Chorionic Villi sampling can be performed at 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy .
