OPEN AND FRIENDLY - DIVERSITY What type of diversity are we talking about? All types! Ideally, the makeup of your team’s membership should be comparable to that of the entire student body.

OPEN AND FRIENDLY - DIVERSITY There is one type of diversity in which our teams struggle: Expanding beyond business students Why is this important?

OPEN AND FRIENDLY – RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION -Casting a wide net -Classroom Presentations -Social Media - Blasts -Stunts and Posters -Team Tshirt Days!

OPEN AND FRIENDLY - RECRUITMENT Always be recruiting Participate in the student clubs fair Classroom Presentations Create posters and handouts and distribute them throughout the school

OPEN AND FRIENDLY – RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION -Individual Follow-up

OPEN AND FRIENDLY – RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION -Introducing them to the project manager -Going with them to their first few meetings -Following up to ask how things are going

PROPER ENGAGEMENT- PROJECT ACTIVITY Students are drawn to Enactus because they want to contribute, so it’s important to have opportunities to do so right away Having volunteers sitting in on a meeting is not properly engaging them. Speaking of which…

PROPER ENGAGEMENT- WELL-RUN MEETINGS Disorganized meetings can be off- putting to new and old volunteers alike Meetings which are purely updates can feel like a waste of time. So how do we ensure meetings are engaging?

PROPER ENGAGEMENT- WELL-RUN MEETINGS Send out agenda beforehand Keep regular scheduled meetings Ensure you come with a list of to-dos and assign them to specific volunteers –Group new and experienced volunteers together to get everyone involved If you’re running the meeting, be there first there and the last to leave

PROPER ENGAGEMENT- ‘HAPPENING’ There should always be something happening with your team If you have a lull in your schedule, fill it with volunteering in the community, having a social, or organizing a professional development session for your team.

PROPER ENGAGEMENT- ‘HAPPENING’

CLEAR VALUE-ADD – LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Talk to individual members to understand what positions interest them Ensure transparency in the selection process for any position Touch-base with unsuccessful candidates to explain reasoning and how they can still be involved
