Quiet corner: Give students a place where they can retreat, relax and recharge. (Mrs. Fultz’s corner, 2012) Comfort: Space for personal things. Students feel safer and more comfortable when they have familiar things and know where their things are. Hygiene: sink and bathroom in classroom. This saves time and is more hygienic for the students.

Group tables: Students work at tables with 3 other students. This allows for some social contact but the teacher expects them to quietly work on tasks at their desks. Language Arts Centers: Students work in groups of 2 and 3 at their centers. They are expected to do their own work for the most part, but also encouraged to interact and work with their peers during this time. (Kindergarten literacy centers).

Environmental Print: The students can learn word and sound recognition through familiar names of everyday products they know. Nursery Rhymes: The class can also learn word recognition through well known songs and rhymes

Journal drawers, tool boxes and chair pockets: Students each have their designated areas for utensils, journals, paper and other tools used in the classroom for tasks. This promotes organization and saves time during lessons and assignments.

Colorful group time rug: This colorful rug is bright and pleasant to look at and adds to the attractiveness and comfort of the room. Books: The books in the classroom are open to use after assignments are finished. Students are welcome to read any book they choose during free time

Computer station: students can explore and learn through educational computer programs. Manipulatives: The students have access to small items (pom-poms, shapes etc), which can be used for things like sorting and math. Maps: World and a U.S. maps are hung in the classroom. Students can learn where their home, state, country or continent is in reference too the rest of the world, as well as information about other places in the U.S. and world.
