Some more information Girls are often taller than boys at the start of puberty but by the end of puberty the average boy is taller. Girls may gain body fat early in puberty but later in adolescence they lose the extra weight as they take on a more womanly shape. Acne results from the skin becoming too greasy due to active sebaceous glands. Pimples etc are a result of clogged pores. Regular cleaning of the skin and a healthy diet will help control pimples. Breaking of the voice is a natural process in which the larynx and vocal cords enlarge. Menstruation is a natural part of being a woman and indicates that she is able to produce children. The first period marks the beginning of puberty for the female.
