Work & Life (3)

Declaration I have come to receive the Word of God. I accept its authority over my life—to transform my thoughts and actions, and so receive all the blessings God has in store for me.

Review Work & Life (1) Work is a good thing, given to us before the fall of man We need work – lots of it. 6 days a week Not enough to do work so that we can do the good things – as if work itself is not good (e.g. make money to help in funding of ministries) Not enough to say we find fulfillment through using God-given talent.

Review Work & Life (1) Discover work as a calling. Discover work as connected to God’s work. State the connection of our work to God’s work. Discover work and rest as part of each other in worship.

Review Work & Life (2) Because of sin: You will most likely perform below your ability Because of sin: You will most likely achieve less than you performance

Review Work & Life (2) Idealism of being able to do anything – false hope fed to us in our youth Cynicism of being able to do nothing of worth – forged by failure and disappointments

Review Work & Life (2) Despite sin: we will have satisfactory performance Despite sin: we will have satisfactory achievement

Review Work & Life (2) Leaf by Niggle: we may not be ready to take the journey when the time comes and our work will see completion in the resurrection The annoying distractions from our work may be the very redemptive qualities in our life Our generosities may open the way of redemption for others Our work and the work of others come together when God restores the world to where it should be

Introduction Romans 8 (NLT) 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM A. Romans 8 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM Sonship. Resurrection. Glory.

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM James 1 16 So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. 18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM Rev 21 1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM Isaiah “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. …

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM 21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They will not labor in vain, …

WE ARE INVITED TO SHARE IN THE WORK AND INHERITANCE OF GOD’S KINGDOM Matthew 5 / Beatitudes 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

CONCLUSION You will inherit all the good work you do. “Do it as unto the Lord!” You will inherit all the good work that the wicked do. Even today, you inherit the good work of others In the resurrection, in the new heaven and new earth, we have much more! Come, enter the KG and transform your work
