10 Major Concerns Construction of new S/s at Surajmaninagar (Tripura) –Pallatana – Surajmaninagar 132kV D/c being constructed by POWERGRID to provide alternate path for evacuation as well as anticipated to be used for start-up power –New 2x50 MVA, 132/33kV S/s at Surajmaninagar required for termination of Pallatana – Surajmaninagar 132kV D/c –Awarded by Tripura, needs to be expedited. Construction of new 400kV S/s at Byrnihat (Meghalaya) –2x315 MVA, 400/220kV S/s at Byrnihat to established by LILO of one circuit of Silchar – Bongaigaon 400kV D/c line –Critical for smooth operation of 408 kms long Silchar – Bongaigaon 400kV section –MeSEB signed agreement with POWERGRID for construction of Byrnihat S/s as consultancy works –Scheduled to be completed in months provided all formalities like release of payment, hand over of land etc. are completed at the earliest, which are still awaited
11 Major Concerns Construction of new 400kV S/s at Azara (Assam) –2x315 MVA, 400/220kV S/s at Azara to established by LILO of Silchar - Bongaigaon 400kV D/c line –Critical for smooth operation of 408 kms long Silchar – Bongaigaon 400kV section –Activities for construction yet to be started by Assam Strengthening beyond Bongaigaon –NER may have surplus during off-peak period (even though entire power from Pallatana & Bongaigaon have been allocated to NER states –Strengthening beyond Bongaigaon needs to be implemented promptly for reliable transfer of power –POWERGRID is implementing re-conductoring of Siliguri- Purnea 400kV D/c line, expected to be completed by March, 2012 –Bongaigaon – Siliguri & Purnea – Biharsharif 400kV D/c lines are being implemented under private sector and have been awarded to M/s Sterlite. Implementation of the same needs to be expedited
