P’s & Q’s A Call to Holy Living
Hungry? Why Wait? Jeremiah 29: Chronicles 7:13-14 Ezekiel 37:11-14
Jeremiah 29: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the L ORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the L ORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the L ORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
Hide and Seek When we seek God, we will find Him. But it must be an honest and true desire to seek Him. The plans God has for you are directly linked to your passion for seeking Him. What’s keeping you from seeking God and patiently waiting on Him?
2 Chronicles 7: When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Passion for Prayer The promise is that God will answer our prayers no matter what they may be. The problem is that we don’t always seek God first. We trust in other things. God seems to take the blame for Israel’s trials. Could it be that God is more than willing to allow you to suffer trials so that you’ll commune with Him?
Ezekiel 37: Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord G OD : Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the L ORD, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. 14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the L ORD ; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the L ORD.”
Dryness and Death A dry and weary spiritual life drains what energy we might have left. But God designed your spiritual life to be full of His presence, not a burden to bear. He will bring renewal when you stop looking to other sources for spiritual life. Are you actively seeking God, diligent in the disciplines that bring His presence into your life?
My Life God has promised that when we wholeheartedly seek Him, He will come near to us. What in your life is keeping you from seeking after God with reckless abandon for everything else? What’s your prayer life like? Do you know how to pray? How to wait on God? What quick fix is standing in the way of seeking God alone? When will the presence of God be worth the work of waiting in your life? How long do you think God will wait for you to want to wait for Him?
