Web Development Issues This module looks at issues in web development from a number of different perspectives, including engineering, legal and social. Current engineering issues focus on research into web engineering methods, techniques and tools. Current legal issues relate to intellectual property rights, privacy and censorship. Current social issues centre on the emerging Information Society and the social construction of technology.

Advanced Database Systems The module is aimed at developing the student's ability to design database applications to meet business needs. The student will develop a database application from inception to implementation for a real world scenario, following a methodology. The module will investigate the issues and technologies associated with implementing and supporting databases and the services that are needed to maintain and access a repository of data.

Emerging Technology A study of the major current and proposed areas of change in the use of computers, and the impact of these changes. Future likely developments on hardware and software configurations and on the ways that organisations and individuals will work. Particular emphasis will be placed on the legal and ethical implications of any new technologies.

Practical Project This module is a large scale, individual piece of work, undertaken by the student under the supervision of a member of the academic staff. It takes place over 20 weeks, starting near the beginning of the academic year, involves the production of a substantial artefact and culminates in the writing of a report and a viva consisting of the presentation, demonstration and discussion of the artefact.

Today What I want you to do today is quite simple :- Just indicate to me which of you is seriously considering topping up their HND to a degree. Any decision you make today is not binding – it is not an enrolment form You can always change your mind.

September The next step, (If you wish to proceed) … … is to come into the University on one of the Part Time Enrolment days These are usually on the first Tuesday & Thursday in September me nearer the time and I can reply with actual dates.

Fees The University is the only department authorised to give information on Fees and financial matters. I suggest you contact Linda Dawson in Finance for up to date information. Phone x2167 ( )
