Pushes and Pulls Lesson 7
Let’s review a few of the vocabulary words we learned yesterday.
Push: To move something away from you by using force.
You can push a lawn mower or a door closed.
Pull: To move something towards you using force.
You can pull things like a drawer of a dresser or a wagon.
It takes force to move something. Push and pull are examples of force.

What force caused the bob sled to move?
Now let’s watch a video of a sled dog team and a sled. What made the sled move? com/watch?v=WPKV J3Nws6E

Make T chart in your science notebook. A T chart looks like this… Push Pull
While watching the next video write down examples of push and pull you see in the video. Push Pull
Write the examples of push under the word push and the examples of pull under the word pull Push Pull
Now let’s watch a video on push and pull h?v=hMDSSAKSWs4
What examples of push and pull did you see in the video? Push Pull
What examples of push and pull did you see in the video? Push Pull swing rope Tennis racket Boat rope Bowling ball kite iron

Now let’s look at these objects and tell me if they are moved by pushing or pulling.

In your science notebook make another T chart. Push Pull
Look at your surroundings. What examples of push and pull do you see? Many examples will be things you use everyday at home, at school or at play.
Write those examples on your push pull T-chart Push Pull
Today we learned about push and pull. A push moves things away from you. A pull moves things closer to you.
We also recognized examples of pushes and pulls in our world and in everyday things. By the way a door can be an example of both push and pull! You push the door open and pull the door closed.
In our next lesson we will look again at our positional words. We will also talk about motion.
Keep observing the world around you!
