Research in Financial Markets  Organizer: Department of Accounting and Finance  Code: LASK3016  Credit units: 8 ects  Learning outcomes:The course has two objectives. First, it aims to provide an overview of recent relevant research issues in finance, extending and deepening students’ knowledge in the area of financial markets. Second, the course is intended to prepare students to do empirical research in finance. By the end of this course students should have a deep understanding of recent research issues in the area of financial markets and developed skills necessary to do empirical research in finance.  Contents: Topics discussed are related to market efficiency, asset pricing, asset price distributions and correlations, financial markets and institutions, international financial markets, and issues in corporate finance such as dividend policy and IPOs.  Teaching methods: Lectures and seminars, 30 h. autumn term, periods III-IV  Lecturers:  Prof. Janne Äijö  Prof. Petri Sahlström  Participation in lectures: Lectures are considered as an essential part of learning. Absence from the lectures may endanger the completion of the course and may influence the final grade of the course. Lecturers are not responsible for providing any course material or information for those students who are absent. Lecturers are also not responsible for making other special arrangements for the absent students.
