This type of postcode contains the highest proportion of households with residents over the age of % of households in this type are pensioners. Many are living alone, although some are retirement home residents. The main type of housing is one and two bedroom flats, most of which are purpose built and low rise. Many properties are owned outright but some are privately rented. Holiday homes are also a feature of these neighbourhoods. Working residents tend to be relatively well qualified, often employed in senior managerial and professional occupations. As might be expected with a large elderly population, car ownership is low relative to the UK as a whole. Most of the residents in this type are comfortably off. Many have provided for their old age with above average levels of investments in ISAs, unit trusts and guaranteed income bonds. Popular newspapers are The Times, Daily Telegraph, Daily Express and Daily Mail. Individuals in this type are likely to engage in charitable and voluntary work. They are also interested in music, the arts and antiques.
