What is it? US Empowered is a three-year program designed to support students committed to attending – and succeeding in – a four-year college. The three years are your Junior year, Senior year, and your first year in college. Introducing... US Empowered Who is it for? All sophomores are welcome to apply. US Empowered particularly encourages applications from students who would most benefit from the structure and support of the program.

CAHS currently offers: Junior Seminar ACT preparation with different teachers in different subject areas (Math, Science, Reading, English) Preliminary exposure to college and career options Senior Seminar College and Career Prep via Academic skills College and scholarship application support Internships in professional settings What US Empowered brings to Chicago Academy US Empowered adds: Junior Seminar ACT preparation via computer-based, individualized tutorials Senior Seminar Enhanced college visit opportunities Additional scholarship application assistance First year in college Online support Individual check-ins with US Empowered teacher Networking with other US Empowered alumni

Benefits of being an US Empowered Fellow at Chicago Academy High School  Significant likelihood of increased ACT scores*  Significant likelihood of increased GPA*  Specially arranged visits to college campuses  Extra support with college and scholarship applications  Support from the same group of classmates and the same teacher two years in a row (both Junior and Senior Seminars)  Membership in a group of students from all across the city dedicated to college success  Special follow-up support during your first year in college * based on results from previous US Empowered students at other schools in Chicago

Commitments of US Empowered Fellows at Chicago Academy High School  Relentless pursuit of college preparation and admission to a 4-year college or university  Attendance at several out-of school US Empowered events per year  Participation in all 3 years of the program: Junior Seminar, Senior Seminar, and freshman year in college*  Enrollment with the same group of classmates and the same teacher for both Junior and Senior Seminars * Pending successful completion of the first semester of the program during your junior year
