KEEPING THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM HEALTHY! 7 TH HEALTH MR. BRAINARD

HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BY THE END OF TODAY!!! Before you leave class, you should able to identify and explain at least 3 techniques or methods used to keep the male reproductive system healthy!

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO… 1. Bath regularly  Use soap and water  A build-up of secretions called smegma can form under the foreskin of uncircumcised men.  If you are uncircumcised, gently pull back the foreskin when showering and clean with soap and water

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO… 2. Wear Protective Equipment  Males should use a cup with an athletic supporter during sports such as baseball, football.

ATHLETIC SUPPORTER/CUP

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO… 3. Practice Abstinence – not having sex before marriage.  This will help you avoid STD’s  STD’s – sexually transmitted disease  STD’s can cause sores, swelling, redness, rashes, and other dangerous infections on reproductive organs

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO… 4. Perform self-exams  Males should gently message each testicle to detect any bumps or abnormalities  Do this at least once a month  Looking for signs of testicular cancer!  Earlier the detection, the easier it is to treat!

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO… 5. Get regular check-ups!  You should see a doctor at least twice year for a routine physical examination!

NOW, LET’S SEE IF YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED!!! Go back to your chart and add any new information you learned from today’s lesson!
